Cisco reportedly interested in buying the company's VoIP service provider, Skype before the company doing an IPO. Rumors are disclosed internal source Skype, Cisco completed the initial mention of the company.
Techcrunch, Tuesday (31/08/2010), Flip Video Cisco reported, if the rumor is the case then it is expected to benefit both companies. EBay purchased Skype in 2005 worth $ 2, 6 billion was expected to boost the number of access of the auction site.
Unfortunately, the way eBay is failing to integrate voice services. In 2009, eBay began considering an IPO for Skype as a way for Skype to become more independent. But, once again planned IPO was stopped because of a lawsuit from the founders of Skype who still have part of Skype
Founder finally, got way out with menspin-off Skype. Some investors also bought a majority stake in the company, with eBay still has about a third of Skype.
Currently, Skype is rumored to be doing an IPO. Skype estimated value of USD 5 billion range. If Cisco's interest, the possibility its value will be in that range.
With the purchase of Skype, it is expected that Cisco will be able to offer complete communications solutions for the enterprise segment.
